Staging Your Home

When it comes to showing your home to potential buyers, the little things can make all the difference.

Here are some simple things that you can do to dramatically improve a buyer's perception as they tour your home.

  • • Take care of minor repairs - tighten screws, touch up nicks in the paint and fill in nail holes

  • • Get rid of the clutter - having excess stuff laying around can make your home seem smaller

  • • Consider a fresh coat of paint - it doesn't cost much and can make a big impression

  • • Put away family photos and other personal items - you want potential buyers to be able to visualize the space as their new home

  • • Make sure the yard looks neat - mow the lawn, trim the bushes and plant some flowers

  • • Keep the house tidy when you are selling - you never know when a showing will come up

  • • Open the shades - brightening up the space makes for a better presentation

  • • Consider adding a few special touches - light a candle, put out flowers or set out a bowl of fruit
